Is anything actually free?
Yes. The full engineer core — workflow coaching, agent-readiness audit, diff/docs check, PR readiness, local XP, Claude Code plugin — is free forever and runs entirely on your machine. No account required.
What's the difference between Pro and Max?
Pro ($9/dev) is the engineer cloud tier: cloud sync, git analytics, weekly reports, the fused Took Score, and advanced coaching. Max ($15/dev) adds the Pipp non-technical narration layer and Pipp Health — HIPAA/SOC2/HITRUST assessment, PHI/PII scanning, and the Secure phase. Pipp Health is included in Max, not a separate add-on.
How do seat and volume discounts work?
Both paid plans are billed per active seat, and the per-seat rate drops automatically as you add seats — 1–5 at full price, 6–25 save ~20%, 26+ save ~33%. Annual billing saves about two months versus monthly. Orgs that need invoicing, SSO, or custom terms can talk to us about Enterprise.
Is Pipp Health a compliance certification?
No. Pipp Health assesses and surfaces compliance signals against HIPAA/SOC2/HITRUST checklists. It does not certify compliance with any framework and is not a substitute for qualified legal or security counsel. Organizational controls require human verification.
Does Took tell me how much money it saves me?
It deliberately refuses to make that claim. The cost ledger reads real tokens and dollars from your own session transcripts, shown as list-price equivalents — not billing figures. Recall and cartridge savings are labeled estimates with a named basis; prompt-cache savings are credited to your provider’s caching, not to Took; and interventions (blocks, warns, corrections) are counted, never priced. You judge the value from your own numbers.
Does Took send my code anywhere?
By default, nothing leaves your machine. The free tier is 100% local. Pro and Max sync is opt-in and sends only derived metrics and XP — never raw code, prompts, or diffs (unless you explicitly enable that). You can run the full tool forever with no sync.
Can I use my own API key?
Yes. Took is local-first; for LLM-heavy features (Pipp narration, advanced coaching), you can bring your own Anthropic API key. This reduces cost for heavy users and keeps everything on your infrastructure.
